Chapter Thirteen: Streams of Consciousness / Delfina + Maki comes to visit Joker in the hospital. She is unhappy that he continues to defer killing Hotaru. + Tetsuya flirts with Natsu on the way to school. She and Hotaru are volunteers at the school Cherry Festival. + Miyuki doesn't want to kill Hotaru, but feels she cannot disobey the Council. Chapter Fourteen: Cherry Blossoms / Brett Schimmel + Keisuke recieves an anonymous letter. + Natsu's American family has come to visit. + Joker escapes the hospital (again) when his guard coincidentally has a stroke. + Miyuki tries to kill Hotaru, but is stopped by Arisa(! No, she didn't really die). Miyuki relates Sumire's predicted relief at Arisa's appearance, but this only angers Arisa and she tries to attack Miyuki, stopped only by Keisuke, who reminds them of their common plan. Arisa leaves with Hotaru, and Keisuke berates Miyuki for trying to kill her, blindly following the Council. He threatens to oppose her if she attacks Hotaru again, but does not reveal his connection with Maki. + Keisuke's anonymous letter, which had hinted Miyuki would attack Hotaru, was sent by Miyuki herself. Chapter Fifteen: The Devil's Dance / Cactus + Joker appears at Hotaru's door; collapses. She takes him in, and starts making idle conversation. + Chris becomes angry that Natsu is hiding something from him. + Natsu sees the sword from her dream [12] in an alley. It calls to her, says it will answer her questions. Chapter Sixteen: The Hearts of Fools ~ Eight Short Lessons About Strength / Lady Brick ~ Scott Schimmel + Tetsuya confronts Keisuke over his actions [14], berates him for doing nothing; decides to confront Miyuki. + Maki kills the Page of Blades when he won't join her. + Sumire apologizes to Hotaru [10]; tells her story. Three years ago, she and Arisa were hanging around after school when they were confronted by some men. They ran, but Arisa was too slow and was caught. Sumire left her behind, found a shinai and her powers. She attacked, severely injuring her attacker. Finally remembering Arisa, she went back to the school, but Arisa had already gotten her scars. Arisa could not forgive and left. Sumire began training to control herself. Hotaru tells her Arisa is not dead. + Natsu's vision [15] fades; she decides she wants no stock in visions, dream or no dream. She and Chris make up. She leaves to find Hotaru kissing Joker. Chapter Seventeen: Chaotic Patterns / Joachim Pfeiffer + Hotaru, Joker, and Natsu end up in Joker's mind. However, Harlequin has separated Hotaru from the rest. Natsu (who is glowing) and Joker begin fighting Harlequin, and chase him off. Joker begins to split into different component personalities, and explains. + It turns out that Harlequin designed a trap so that as Hotaru slept, she would be drawn into Joker's mind -- that way he could control the outcome, so better results than last time [7]. However, he hadn't counted on Natsu, or her (non-Arcana) magic. She realizes she looks as she did in her dream. [12] + They are being watched by a shadowed figure, who also is surprised at the interaction of the Magician, Fool, and Natsu's powers. + They wake up. Chapter Eighteen: The Royal Council, Court Of Profound Apocrypha / Signus Megido + After they wake, Hotaru and Natsu go looking for help regarding the confrontation with Miyuki. [14] Joker is left at (Hotaru's) home. Natsu again reassures Hotaru she will support her, even if she can't trust anyone else. + Natsu and Hotaru are met by Chris and his uncle Will, in his jeep Victory. He explains that he is visiting the apparently large Forrester clan, as well as conducting some business in Japan. Hotaru notices a slight tingle as she gets inside Victory. Later, it is learned Victory is The Chariot. + Hanako learns how to do a tarot reading. Miyuki interprets the layout as meaning trouble will continue so long as she hasn't fulfilled her mission to kill the Magician. [11] Keisuke interprets it as that alliances are tested, and points to him as a traitor to the TRA for his actions and his connections with Maki. [11, 8] Hanako points out that they both have forgotten to use the last card, signifying 'Hope'. + Harlequin visits the Healer (PoC), asking him to stay unaffiliated with the other Arcana, as well as to give him some healing potion so he can recover [17] + Maki has an appointment with Will. She assigns him targets to dispose of. He refuses, and she threatens for him to lose everything-- family, business, Victory. One of the targets is Hotaru. + Tetsuya confronts Keisuke; they begin to fight but stop. Chapter Nineteen: Harmonic Oblivion / Brett Schimmel + Miyuki is unable to perform tarot readings. The Council visits her in her dreams. Miyuki states that she won't kill Hotaru without good reason. The Council says the real target was Fortune all along, and that Hanako had been sent to steal her powers, and cannot give them back. Miyuki wakes, and is completely blind. Hanako comes to visit, asking for an explanation [14], but Miyuki scares her off after hitting her, trying to regain her powers. + Maki reassures Keisuke that he is doing the right thing by keeping her informed of the TRA's actions. She is visited by the Hanged Man, who tells her she will need to gain Nakamura's favor, because he would become Justice. + Shiho (w/friends Mariko, Natsumi & Takahata-sempai) ask Natsu and Hotaru to go out to IHOP. Natsu is against it, but Hotaru insists. Later, Natsu misunderstands one of their words, and stalks out. Shiho decides to try harder to befriend the pair. + Chris meets an old man who is quite good at fighting games at the arcade. He is Temperance. Through the window, Chris sees a pretty girl, and goes after her. He tries to talk to her, but it is Arisa, and she is unimpressed. + Hotaru's mom enters her room to see Joker lounging on Hotaru's bed. Chapter Twenty: Through A Darkened Glass / Lady Brick + Tetsuya, coming to confront Miyuki over her actions with Hotaru [14], finds her collapsed and powerless. + Ishido explains that he is doing a class project with Hotaru, but because he's sick couldn't go with her to get extra notes. Hotaru's mother, convinced, makes him tea. + Hanged Man and Victory talk; he does not approve of Will and Maki's influence. Temperance and Maki talk; she wants his motives, and he says he must live and remember, as the Arcana are weakening through reincarnation. + The potion Healer gave Harlequin [18] kills him. Chapter Twenty-One: Dreams of a Chaotic Existence / Insanity + Hanako, guided by a past Fortune, dreams of possible futures. All of them are bad, with Hotaru either tortured or torturing the other Arcana. In one of them, Hotaru is an evil, twisted past Magician called the Warlock. Chapter Twenty-Two: Waking Reality / Kate Malloy + Tetsuya asks Natsu about what's going on with Hanako. + Sumire tries to comfort Miyuki. [19] Miyuki reveals that her powers were lost due to the Council's plan. Keisuke appears, and Miyuki calls him out as a traitor. + Chris follows Arisa again [19], and becomes taken with Maki as he sees them meet. Maki smiles, having been informed by the cards that Chris would be useful. Chapter Twenty-Three: Sunset Rhapsody / Scott Schimmel + The shadowed figure [6, 17] is uncomfortable; the Magician and the Fool are still together, and Fortune is still a threat to him. It's the Council. + Joker shows Miyuki that her power hasn't been drained, just borrowed + the TRA decide to storm the Council Arcana. They are surprised to learn that the Council is really only the King of Wands. He has been killing young Arcana to stop some tragedy from occuring. Natsu punches him out. Chapter Twenty-Four: Crimson Night / Brett Schimmel + Untrusted by the rest, Hotaru is sent to babysit Joker as they take the Council to the Tower Reversed. Natsu is angry with her, and Hotaru realizes she is probably miffed that she is on such good terms with someone who tried to stab her. + Natsu and Miyuki take back the KoW, and tie him up. Miyuki says the reason they could defeat him so easily was because of Natsu, the unknown factor. They go in to question him, but he has escaped his bonds. Apparently, he can use the power of the Tower Reversed to his advantage. He posesses the power of Emperor as well. He fights and seriously wounds Natsu, then tells Miyuki that Arcana do disappear. + Sagara and Nakamura investigate the break-in at KoW's house. Nakamura comes across The Fool card KoW was trying to destroy. [23] + Hanako senses what's going on at the Tower Reversed, and urges Tetsuya to get over there. They run into Keisuke, who tries to explain himself, but Tetsuya blows him off. Will/Victory appears [22], and put up a field to kill(?) Hanako and Tetsuya. Keisuke destroys Victory's field and puts up one of his own, allowing Hanako & Tetsuya to escape. He engages Will/Victory himself. + Natsu is healed by Healer. She wakes to find KoW escaped, and Miyuki dead. Chapter Twenty-Five: Ghosts / Lady Brick + The King of Wands leaves the Tower Reversed, and is found by Hanged Man. KoW is surprised, thinking Hanged Man to be dead. Hanged Man says KoW didn't really have the power of the Emperor. Kills him. + Keisuke realizes the Arcana is Victory, not Will. They fight, and Keisuke injures Victory by controlling the field to crush her. He collapses from the strain before destroying her, and is saved from Will's wrath by Sumire, who still seems wary of his motives. [22] + Chris goes out with Maki. Things seem well until they meet Temperance at the arcade, and she accuses him of trying to betray her. + Miyuki, though with broken neck, is breathing. She wakes, finding herself inbetween worlds. She has been kept from death by the Tower Reversed. He explains why he became the Tower Reversed, and asks Miyuki to join with him to provide a connection to the physical world & the rest of the Arcana. He is afraid that something is happening now to recreate the "Great War." She accepts, and her body dies. Hanako can hear her while she is in the Tower Reversed. + Hanged Man reports back to Hierophant; we learn that it is Hierophant's orders that killed KoW, and that he is preparing to take power after Maki's ploy for Empress fails. He is keeping himself a secret. Chapter Twenty-Six: Reunion / Brett Schimmel + The police find KoW's body. Nakamura believes it has to do with Joker. + Hierophant instructs Hanged Man to eliminate the 'Paradox', Natsu. + Hotaru is down because of Miyuki's new condition [25]. Natsu urges her to eat with Shiho & co, to cheer her up. + Natsumi is attacked by Hanged Man, saying he will 'control' her. + Arisa challenges Sumire to a duel to the death. Sumire refuses, dropping her weapon and telling Arisa to kill her if it would make her happy. Arisa cannot, and they reconcile. Arisa says she missed their friendship; Sumire lets slip her love for Arisa, but covers it over when Arisa seems confused. + Maki finds Hanako, and introduces herself as her Queen. ======================== COMMON POWERS of ARCANA ======================== + Arcana can create a "field" -- a mirror dimension. A small bubble just outside of normal space and time. Normal people can get out, but not in; we can get in, but not out. Nothing that happens there affects anything in the real world, except for living beings and objects closely associated with them (clothes, etc). Time does not stop, but timepieces do. They can be moved, if everyone within the field wills it so. + Arcana can use certain decks of tarot cards to determine what card they are aligned with + Arcana can identify other Arcana by a tingling feeling by touch and sometimes in the air ======================== CHARACTERS ======================== (Japanese names written Japanese-style; Surname Given name) (Trumps)---------------- Usono Ishido CARD/ALIAS: The Fool, Joker INTRODUCED IN: chapter one RELATIONSHIPS: Hotaru (cares for/tries to kill); Maki (works for); past Fools APPEARANCE: Tall and thin, sharp, angular features, unkempt blue- black hair, bright black eyes.
