Wings of Fate interlude -- May 7, 2001 by Raviprasad Duvvuri created by John Evans and Ardweden - = - Journal Entry (excerpt) May 7, 2001 The first day of the questioning ended today, at 7:43 PM. I sat in on the event, at the request of my agency's associates. I was fascinated to finally lay eyes upon the group that had gained near-legendary status among my colleagues, and eager to take part. I arrived late, which is why this entry starts after the fact. I would have liked to record my expectations going into the questioning, but it is to late to waste time on idle regret. There were a handful of others on hand to view the proceedings. However, I was the only one actually admitted into the chamber. I am guessing it had to do with my medical background and experience with this sort of thing. My initial reaction was of disappointment. This ragtag group hardly looked like the stuff of legend. With the exception of the crow-female, they all seemed normal people, the kind you would pass every day in the street. I think I even went to grade school with Yamakawa-san. He looked very familiar. Upon being cleared to enter the special room designated for the questioning, I was informed that some preliminary exams had been conducted upon the subjects. They were all quite fit for questioning, though some of them still bore evidence of physical injury. Initial attempts to cajol certain pieces of information from them failed; they were most uncooperative. They also proved resistant to application of < >, something I find very disturbing. I sat in the back of the room and listened to their account. Any attempt on the part of my associates to try to direct their narrative to the information failed as well. I think they have settled for trying to glean what they can from the group's account of their recent exploits. At approximately 7:40, it was decided that everyone involved was too tired to continue with the proceedings, and the captives were escorted to separate cells. With a single exception, they were all too tired to argue, and quietly acquiesced. The sixth one, Macha, struggled. She injured six guards before she was tranquilized. Upon being administered nine doses of clozapine, she settled down. Yamada decided to make it ten, just to err to the side of caution. I do not blame him. I will be going home shortly, hopeful that tomorrow will yield some of the answers we seek. - Ichida Soujirou Journal Entry (excerpt) May 8, 2001. 7:45 AM I arrived this morning to some very disturbing news. One of the captives, Iwanaga Kenchi, managed to disappear in the middle of the night. The guards on hand cannot account for the escape, and security cameras caught nothing. The entire complex has been locked down and is being swept. From what I know of this bunch, I know that they will find nothing. I will miss Takeshi. He was in charge of security last night, and while I only knew him a short while, he was a very easy-going fellow and I liked him. I do not expect his reprimanding will be over for another couple of days. The remaining members of Judou's party have been individually informed that their friend died in an attempt to escape. I have just reviewed the tapes of their reactions, which ranged from extreme grief to callous indifference. Most fascinating, this. It should prove useful, this information. This recorded, I go to ready myself for the day's questioning. I find myself keenly excited about what I shall hear today.
